Ivory Pearlescent Alligator for Roger Dubois Sympathy – happy to share these great photos from my local customer of his Roger Dubois Sympathy paired with his just completed Ivory Pearlescent Alligator strap with Silver metallic stitching. I have always has a soft spot for Roger Dubois watches, but unfortunately the complexity of the straps designs, typically requiring manufactured insert built onto the straps, which makes building custom aftermarket straps all but impossible. So, needless to say, when my customer arrived at my workshop with this beautiful white gold marvel and I realized that this strap fitment was one I could accomplish with confidence, I jumped at the chance to build a couple of straps for him. This hand-cut watch strap has quite a taper from 25mm at the lugs to 18mm at the buckle, the only complication is cutting a 3mm notch for the mid lug and cutting 11 long lug tubes to reinforce the strap at the lugs. This strap is stitched with our Silver Metallic thread, which I think really looks great with our White pearlescent Alligator and is a combination I have made for several watches over the years and one that looks amazing with this white gold case. One thing that I must say is that while this watch is a 43mm case on paper, on the wrist is wears very large – I would say more like a 46mm owning to those Elegantly sculpted (but long) lugs. The lining for this strap is custom hand-dyed ‘Clone’ patterned kangaroo leather, which is both extremely soft and extremely durable.
This strap also includes light padding at the lugs which really gives the strap a 3-dimensional look that compliments the case of this watch.
This dial of this Roger Duboise masterpiece is made from Mother of Pearl and so the Ivory Pearlescent Alligator is just a perfect match for his watch.
