Hi Strap lovers!\u00a0 Alligator Straps for Patek and Lange – I recently had the pleasure of meeting up with a local customer in Munich to deliver and mount this custom Alligator straps for his Patek Philippe 5170P and A. Lange & S\u00f6hne Datograph <\/span>watches.\u00a0While chatting a mounting up the straps I was able to take a few snaps of his gorgeous watches to your viewing pleasure.<\/p>\n

First, let me share my impressions of these watches.\u00a0 The A. Lange & <\/span><\/a>S\u00f6hne<\/a> Datograph is a super elegant sports watch that I just find so compelling in its overall design and execution.\u00a0 I had, in fact, told my customer that I couldn’t conceive that the Patek would be more elegant or more beautifully executed.\u00a0 My patient custom only gave me a gentle laugh (as if to say ‘Foolish mortal’) and told me to wait until he brought out the Patek.\u00a0 To hold this watch in your hand is to begin the fully understand the extreme build quality and Teutonic engineering that puts S\u00f6hne at the pinnacle of watchmaking.\u00a0 The deep black dial with its perfectly placed silver subdials and big date aperture at top dead center is highly detailed without ever feeling over-busy.\u00a0 And, that impression was even before turning the watch over to behold the magnificently executed movement.\u00a0 In my business, I have had the opportunity to handle a lot of great timepieces, but only a very few are more impressive. This strap is worthy of the very best custom strap that I can make, my custom chose our SuperMatte Carbon Black Alligator, thickly padded at the lug and hand saddle stitched using our Steel Grey French-milled linen thread.\u00a0 The one stand-out feature of this subtly understated strap is the use of our bright red Kangaroo leather lining, which is both soft and extremely durable.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Which brings me to the Patek Philippe 5170P<\/a>.\u00a0 Holding it and inspecting all is obvious qualities leaves one at a bit of a loss for words.\u00a0 It’s a sports chronograph, no doubt, but the elegance of its deep blue dial and baguette diamond hour markers are worthy of the finest of dress watches.\u00a0 The color, balance, and delicacy of the dial execution is the very definition of good taste – one doesn’t really even notice the diamond dial markers for what they are on the first inspection.\u00a0 Turn the watch over to inspect a movement that is finished to the world’s highest standard – it’s truly difficult to imagine the watch was made by human hands – this is only slight hyperbole on my part – it really is that good.\u00a0 \u00a0In platinum, and at just a hair over 39mm in diameter, this watch has an impressive heft that belies its dimensions, and the main reason why my customer wanted a custom strap – he felt that the original OEM Alligator strap was a bit too thin for his preference.\u00a0 For his custom strap, he chose our subtle semi-matte racing black Alligator with Navy Blue stitching that I think matches the subtlety of the blue-fade-to-black sunburst dial.\u00a0 This strap features thick padding at the lugs and tapering to a thickness, which is just thin enough to fit into the Patek folding deployant clasp – job well done with giving this watch a more substantial strap.\u00a0 I think our customer is very happy with the results for both of his super-extraordinary watches.\u00a0 It’s been such a pleasure to meet with our customer and to have the opportunity to enjoy both of these high horology timepieces in person.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Needless to say, these watches will be our ‘Watch of the Week<\/strong>!<\/p>\n
